E – Exercise – a must do for everyone at least 10 minutes a day. There are plenty of choices on You tube or heath magazines to get your Fit On.
F – FAT is key to good health including the health of your brain. Eat healthy fats including olive oil, coconut oil, avocados, and nuts.
G – GMO foods. Be cautious of Genetically Modified Foods which are linked to numerous health hazards. Most foreign countries prohibit GMO foods.
H – Heart Health is a leading cause of death in the US. Take care of your heart by eating heart healthy foods – organic eggs, green vegetables, fish, healthy fat
I – Inflammation – Research points to the fact that most health issues are due to inflammation in the body. Anti-inflammatory foods and supplements can help.
J – Juicing – a great way to get full nutrients into the body especially for senior citizens.
K – Vitamin K – Blood clotting, bone health. Deficiency causes fractures in osteoporosis. Found in dark green leafy vegetables, green tea, spinach, broccoli, kale, asparagus,egg yolks butter, liver
L – Liver – the key organ in the body for detoxification. Foods that help a healthy liver are garlic, beets, carrots, green tea, olive oil, leafy green vegetables.
M – muscle health is key to our movement through the day. Muscles depend on protein so eat good, healthy protein for muscle performance and move every day to keep muscles healthy and limber.
N – Nourishing – think about the foods you eat. Are they nutrient dense? Do they do anything to fuel or heal your body?
O – Organic foods are a first choice whenever possible. Buy organic when you can.
P – Pumpkin – one of the healthiest foods – try the seeds too.
Q – Quinoa – a heart healthy food containing magnesium, potassium, Vit E, and fiber. High in protein.
R – Resveratrol – part of a group of compounds called polyphenols. They’re thought to act like antioxidants, protecting the body against damage that can put you at higher risk for things like cancer and heart disease. Found in red wine.
S – Sugar and Stress – I know it is hard but sugar needs to be avoided. Sugar and stress are have been proven to cause cancer.
T – Thyroid – important in metabolic functions and most bodily activities. Have it checked regularly
U – Undercooked meat – be careful of raw and undercooked meat and fish.
V – Variety and Vitamins. Variety of foods is the spice of life to enjoying foods and do take vitamins to help your body.
W – Weight – weight loss is one of the biggest concerns for individuals. It isn’t so easy to just lose weight. It is a complicated, metabolic process affecting each of us differently.
